City of Troy Recognizes Two Residents on the Occasion of Their 100th Birthday

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Mayor and City Council recently recognized two Troy residents on the occasion of their 100th birthday.

Helen McLennan, born February 26, 1909, moved to Troy with her husband Howard in 1957.  They shared 27 wonderful years of marriage and together raised their son Grant who now lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.  Helen attends Sunday meeting for worship each week at the Birmingham Friends Meeting and her other interests include meeting friends for Chair Exercises at the Community Center three days a week.  Helen said at her age “getting up in the morning” is actually her hobby.  She still likes to drive around Troy, but never after dark, and loves the Troy Library.

Agnes Faust, born April 9, 2009, has lived in Troy for 20 years. Agnes worked for many years at Chrysler and as a retiree enjoys the monthly retirement luncheons when she can brag that she is the oldest retiree in attendance. Agnes enjoys spending quality time with her son Edward and her two grandchildren Courtney and Ryan.  A member of St. Alan’s Catholic Church, Agnes also loves to eat and spend time with her many friends.  A great sense of humor has helped Agnes achieve her longevity as well as doing things she loves, such as playing pinochle and euchre each week at the Troy Community Center.
