won’t be here for long, so now’s your chance to enjoy a full line of
fascinating events for history-lovers. Brought
to you by the Troy Museum and Historic Village, activities for the month of
August include:
August
1: Drop-in Fiddling, Museum, noon - 1 pm. Bring
your violin, banjo, mandolin, fife, or other instrument of choice for some
informal music on the Village Green. For intermediate level and up. No registration. FREE.
August
3: Music in the Air, Museum, 2-4 pm. Bring
a picnic lunch and lawn chairs and dance to Calypso tunes with the Gratitude
Steel Band. This family fun event features hands-on activities for kids and
great music! Snacks will be available for purchase. Concerts are moved indoors
in case of rain. Park at the Museum. Continues every Sunday through Aug. 17.
No Registration. Fee: $5 donation for 18+.
August
5: 1950s Picnic, Museum,
11 am - 2
pm. DJ Bob Steel will be spinning
cool tunes. Hoola hoops, games, contests and a cupcake walk will make it a
rockin’ good time -- rain or shine. Bring a picnic lunch and don’t forget your
camera. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Prizes will be given for
the best dressed ’50s outfit. All ages. Groups of 10+ must
register. Walk-ins accepted until full. Fee: $3 per person or $10 per family.

10: Music in the Air, Museum, 2-4 pm. Bring
a picnic lunch and lawn chairs and enjoy an Irish experience with Blackthorn.
This family fun event features hands-on activities for kids and great music!
Snacks will be available for purchase. Concerts are moved indoors in case of
rain. Park at the Museum. Continues every Sunday through Aug. 17. No registration. Fee: $5 donation for 18+.

15: Beginner's Ribbon Embroidery, Museum, 11 am –noon. Ribbon embroidery was popular in the 1800s, and today it is back. Come
learn some basic ribbon embroidery stitches. Make a stem, a leaf, and a flower
that can be used again on other projects. Ages 9 to adult. Register by Aug. 1. Fee: $6.

19: Presidential Home Tour, Museum, 8 am - 5 pm. By popular demand, it’s a trip to Fremont, Ohio to the Rutherford B. Hayes
Presidential Center, to visit the Hayes Home, Museum, and presidential library.
Lunch in Victorian style at Dillon House. All Ages. Register by Aug. 4. Fee: Adults $78; Historical Society
Members $71; Kids under 18 $65.

28: Thursday Teas at Two, Museum, 2-3 pm. Sip
a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of history. This month’s theme is Herb Flavors
in Cookies and Tea. From bunches of fresh herbs collected from the log cabin’s
herb patch, Judy Cornellier will teach you to use fresh herbs in teas and
cookies. Taste samples and take home new recipes. Register. Fee: $4 per person; Groups of 15 or more are $3 per
person.
