Drop-in Fiddling, Museum, noon-1 pm. Bring
your violin, banjo, mandolin, fife, or other instrument of choice for some
informal music on the Village Green. For intermediate level and up. No registration. FREE.

1, 8, 15, 22:
TGIF: Toys, Games and Imaginations on Friday,
Museum, 10 am-3:30 pm. Imagine being a child from the past as you play with a
different historic toy or game every week. Also, make a paper craft to take
home! No registration. FREE.

Craft Demonstrations on Fridays, Museum, 10 am-noon. Watch
our volunteers demonstrating various crafts such as weaving, quilting,
blacksmithing, and many more. Call for a schedule. No registration. FREE.

2, 9, 16:
Make and Take Saturdays, Museum, 11 am. Get
crafty this summer with an interesting project each week. Crafts rotate among
beeswax candles, tin-punch sun catchers and wooden napkin holders.
Ages: 7+. Register; walk-in until full.
Fee: $5.

3: Music in the Air, Museum, 2-4 pm. Bring
a picnic lunch and lawn chairs and dance to Calypso tunes with Gratitude Steel
Band. This family fun event features hands-on activities for kids and great
music! Snacks will be available for purchase. Concerts are moved indoors in
case of rain. Park at the Museum. Continues every Sunday through Aug. 17.
No Registration. Fee: $5 donation for 18+.

hear a presentation about a piece of the Museum's collection and then enjoy

Tales on Tuesdays, Museum, 11:30 am. Children
are invited to listen to a special book under the Story Tree! This is a perfect
opportunity to plan a picnic lunch! Ages 3-9. No
registration. FREE.

5: 1950s Picnic, Museum,
11 am - 2
pm. DJ Bob Steel will be spinning
cool tunes. Hoola hoops, games, contests and a cupcake walk will make it a
rockin’ good time -- rain or shine. Bring a picnic lunch and don’t forget your
camera. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Prizes will be given for
the best dressed ’50s outfit. All ages. Groups of 10+ must
register. Walk-ins accepted until full. Fee: $3 per person or $10 per family.

6, 13, 20:
Cabin and Candles, Museum, 1 pm. Visit
our pioneer log cabin and see how settlers lived 150 years ago. Make two
hand-dipped beeswax candles to take home. Continues every Wednesday through
August 20. Participants must have
completed first grade. Groups of 10+ must
register. Walk-ins accepted until full. Fee: $3.
August
10: Music in the Air, Museum, 2-4 pm. Bring
a picnic lunch and lawn chairs and enjoy an Irish experience with Blackthorn.
This family fun event features hands-on activities for kids and great music!

August
7: Time Traveler’s Camp, Museum, 10 am - 2 pm. Experience
life in the 1840s cabin while learning to cook over a fire and do chores. Visit the Caswell farm in the 1860s where
you’ll make a craft and shop at the General Store. Go to school in the 1880s for lessons and
recess. Travel to the 1900s at the
Parsonage/Farmhouse to learn Victorian customs, play parlor games and have “tea.” Bring a sack for lunch. Ages 8-12.
Space is limited so register by July 31.
Fee: $30.
August
12: Make a Cornhusk Doll, Museum, 11-11:45 am. Enjoy a brief visit to the Log Cabin, led by a costumed interpreter, and
make a traditional cornhusk doll to take home. This is a family activity;
parents stay with their children and help make the doll. For kindergartners and up. Register by Aug. 10. Fee: $5.
August
14: Homelife Tour & Buttermaking, Museum, 10:30 am-noon. Compare living in the log cabin (1830s), Caswell house (1860s) and
Parsonage (1910s). A buttermaking opportunity with tasty samples follows.
Participants must have completed second grade.
Groups of 10+ must register. Walk-ins accepted
until full. Fee: $3.

15: Beginner's Ribbon Embroidery, Museum, 11 am – 12 noon. Ribbon embroidery was popular in the 1800s, and today it is back. Come
learn some basic ribbon embroidery stitches. Make a stem, a leaf, and a flower
that can be used again on other projects. Ages 9 to adult. Register by Aug. 1. Fee: $6.
August
17: Music in the Air, Museum, 2-4 pm. Bring
a picnic lunch and lawn chairs and have a rockin' good time with Rich Eddy's
Rockin' Oldies Band. This family fun event features hands-on activities for
kids and great music! Snacks will be available for purchase. Concerts are moved
indoors in case of rain. Park at the Museum. Continues every Sunday through
Aug. 17. No registration. Fee: $5
donation for 18+.

21: Beekeeping and the Honey Bee, Museum, 10:30 am - Noon. Presented by Dr. Dyanne Tracy of Oakland University, this event will
feature beekeepers’ suits to try on, hives to view and a sweet treat of honey.
You won’t bee-lieve how much you’ll enjoy this fascinating demonstration about
this once-common activity among Troy residents. Ages 8+. Register by Aug. 14. Fee: $8.
