(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library is host to two
local author booksignings and presentations in April:
Betty Coven, author of
“The Gods of Canaan: A Novel” will
discuss her first novel on Wednesday, April 14, from 7-8 pm.
The novel is set in Canaan in 1031 B.C., and centers on a young nomad
woman named Rebe’kah as she recounts the treacherous
journey from a simple nomadic life to one of storyteller in the court of King
David where she narrates the tales that are to become the Bible. Dr. Coven is retired from private practice as
a therapist for over 25 years. Merging
her extensive knowledge of the human condition, Dr. Coven spent seven years
researching and writing this work of biblical fiction.
Jill Wilkinson, author
of “Downsized: A Novel” will discuss her
first novel on Wednesday, April 28, from 7-8 pm.
Wilkinson will offer a presentation on creative writing and discuss her
novel that addresses the impact of job loss inspired by an article from a
Detroit newspaper. The book is a great
read for those interested in how lay-offs affect people and how they manage to
put themselves back together. It is a
story of hope and encouragement, particularly those who find themselves
struggling through the volatile economy.
