(TROY,
MI)
– The Troy Museum & Historic Village transforms into a red and white striped
“Candy Cane Village” Saturday, December 5 from 1-4 pm,
welcoming in the holiday season with a fun and festive family celebration. Santa Claus arrives in his horse-drawn
carriage at 2 pm.
“This
is a special way to usher in this festive season,” Museum Director Loraine
Campbell said. “The first 100 visitors
arriving dressed in red and white will receive a small gift. And everyone will want to have their cameras
ready when Santa arrives to hear what the good little boys and girls are
wishing for this year.”
Come
visit the Village’s cabin to see how pioneer families made Christmas. Enjoy a candy making demonstration and candy cane
crafts. Visit the Candy Cane Gift Shop
with a glittering array of stocking-stuffers for sale. Guests can take a stroll through the village
to see each building decorated in fresh, fragrant greens by the Troy Garden
Club. Take in the pretty sounds of the
Royal Oak Community Handbell Choir at 1:15 pm in the
Old Troy Church. Free cookies, hot cider
and music by the Troy Athens Choir will also be a part of this special
experience.
Marines
and Marine veterans will be on hand to collect new, unwrapped and unopened toys
for needy children as part of the Toys for Tots program. The Museum will be accepting toy donations
from Nov. 30-Dec. 10.
Parking and free shuttle bus service
will be provided from the Zion Christian Church located at 3668 Livernois Road,
between Big Beaver and Wattles. The
Museum is located at 60 West Wattles.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-17, and free for
children under age 5. For more
