(TROY,
MI) – The Troy
Community Center will be hosting two separate programs to train and support
individuals who graciously dedicate their time to caring for their loved
ones.
On
August 13 and 14, Home Instead
Senior Care, Binson’s and the Alzheimer’s Association
will instruct caregivers on how to operate a hoyer
lift, the proper mechanics of bathroom transfers, new technologies in lift
devices for the home, and mental fitness and stimulation for those with
dementia. Attendees will receive a
certificate of completion. Classes will
last two hours and will be offered at six times over the two days. For more information about class times and to

On
August 14 from 10-11:30 am, an opportunity
for individuals to share experiences, access information, and learn methods for
managing stress will be offered through a caregiver’s support group forum. Cosponsored by Home Instead Senior Care, this
support group is open to caregivers of all ages. If you would like to bring the person you are
caring for, please let us know and arrangements will be made. Stay after the one-hour meeting for further
informal discussion and time to socialize.
