(TROY, MI) – Join Santa Claus at City Hall for the Annual City of Troy Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 8 at 7 pm. The event takes place outdoors on Veterans Plaza at City Hall, 500 West Big Beaver. All residents are invited to bring their families and friends for an evening of caroling, cookies, hot cocoa and fun.
“A few years ago, Tom’s Landscape donated a beautiful Colorado spruce to help enhance the landscaping here at City Hall,” Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart said. “Gathering around that beautiful tree has become a tradition that families look forward to each year.”
The festivities get underway with caroling, led by the Athens High School Choirs, “Treble and Magic,” under the direction of Dan Stevens. Hot cocoa will be available through the generosity of Kosch’s Catering, and holiday sweets will be provided by community volunteers. Mayor Louise Schilling will welcome Santa as he makes his grand entrance to light the Christmas tree. He’ll also join in the singing and, of course, visit with the little ones.
“This is a great opportunity to visit with Santa right here in the heart of the City,” Stewart said. “Be sure and dress for the weather.”
