(TROY,
MI) – Step back in
history and celebrate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War with Candlelight
Tours at the Troy Museum & Historic Village on Saturday, April 30. Civil war re-enactors, both Union and
Confederate, will take you through the roles men and women played during this
trying time in our history. Meet a
variety of interesting characters from a soldier to Senator Jacob Howard
sharing his experience in working with President Lincoln on the 13th
Amendment, to a mourning widow or a Postmaster.
Learn
about the role of the US Christian Commission and listen to period music
provided by “Vintage Strings” on the Village Gazebo and watch the blacksmiths
forging items of interest and for sale.
The
Civil War Candlelight program will be conducted in staggered guided tours
beginning at 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm (tours leave every 15 minutes and last about 90
minutes). Reservations needed/ limited reservations for
each time slot.

fee $10. Appropriate
for ages 10 to adult. Refreshments available.
