(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library is hosting
a variety of programs that will offer valuable cultural experiences to its patrons.
During the month of December, library visitors can turn toward lectures and
concerts to expand their view of the world beyond the City limits. Activities
include:

2: Far Away Places
with Sue Shuttleworth, 7 pm. Listen
to fascinating travel accounts and see slide presentations by seasoned
travelers. Shuttleworth will explore the Italy’s Romantic Amalfi Coast in this
session. No registration needed.

7: Art & Architecture Of The Ancient World
With Michael Farrell, 3:30 pm. Explore the exciting lands of Egypt. From
1560 to 1080 BC, the Egyptian Empire reached its zenith as the dominant power
in the Middle East. By 1400 BC the Egyptian empire stretched from Northern
Syria to the Sudan in Africa. Led by Amenhotep II, Akhenaton and Ramses II, it
was a golden age of wealth, power and prosperity.
December 14:
Foster/Folts Duo Goes For Baroque, 3 pm. Enjoy works written for violin and harpsichord (played on
baroque violin and virginal) by J. S. Bach, Corelli and Fontana. Daniel Foster teaches violin at
Eastern Michigan University and is concertmaster of the Macomb Symphony. Martha Folts studied at the University
of Michigan with Edward Parmentier for her DMA in Harpsichord. She has recorded
for Delos & the Musical Heritage Society and played on WGUC-FM in
Cincinnati and Minnesota Public Radio. All
Library concerts are free of charge and open seating to the room’s capacity. No
reservations!
