Discover Cultural Experiences at the Troy Public Library

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library is hosting a variety of programs that will offer valuable cultural experiences to its patrons during the month of January.  Library visitors can turn toward lectures and concerts to expand their view of the world beyond the city limits.  Come in out of the January cold for the following:

Sunday Afternoon with the Arts at the Library Concert

January 10, 3 pm

Lea Blackney, Troy cellist and Troy Public Library Youth Chamber Music Institute alumna, recently completed her Master’s Degree in Cello Performance at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, studying with Kneisel Trio cellist Stefan Kartman.  Blackney will perform with her University of Wisconsin trio, feturing clarinetist Nicholas Carolson and pianist Joel Matthys.  The program will include clarinet trios by Beethoven and Brahms, improvisational solos and an original composition.

Urbanism and Public Art – Art Photography as Business

January 22, 12-1 pm

As part of the collaborative series between the Library, the Troy Chamber of Commerce, and the Image and Arts Council of Troy, Troy resident and professional photographer William Cowger will discuss how to transform a hobby into a lucrative business.  Bring a lunch.
