City of Troy Public Works Department – Fleet Division

Earned the No. 1 Spot on the 100 Best Fleets for 2010.

 

 

 

(Troy, MI)The City of Troy Public Works Department earned the No. 1 spot on the 100 Best Fleets for 2010. The announcement was made June 21 at the Government Fleet + Expo (GFX) in Austin, Texas. Sam Lamerato, Fleet Maintenance Superintendent for the City of Troy, accepted the award during a special 100 Best Fleets ceremony.

 

The Troy Fleet Division’s honor of the No. 1 Most Efficient Fleet Operation in North America, comes from CCG Systems.  They rank the 100 best peak-performing fleet operations.  Only 760 fleets of the 38,000 in North America were given the privilege to apply for this honor.  Troy is regarded as exceptional based on 12 criteria.

 

Troy’s fleet is managed by Sam Lamerato, CPFP Fleet Maintenance Superintendent with over 500 pieces of equipment, including 100 police vehicles, 36 fire apparatus, and 56 pieces of snow removal equipment, as well as 20 employees.  The Fleet also provides service to seven other municipalities.

                       

“This is a truly outstanding team of people,” Public Works Director Tim Richnak said.  “It’s great to see them recognized again by their peers with this well-deserved honor.”

 

The City of Troy Fleet Division was named the Top 20 of the 100 Best Fleets in North America in June of 2008 & 2009 and received the Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence 2004-09. Sam Lamerato received the APWA Top Ten Leader Award in 2008, and received the APWA Certified Public Fleet Professional Certification (CPFP) in September, 2007. The City of Troy Fleet Division was named the Second Best Fleet in North America in October of 2007. 

 

The City of Troy Fleet Division was named the Third Best Fleets in North America in October of 2006.  Sam was appointed chair of the APWA Fleet Certification Governance Council in 2006.  In May, 2006 Sam received a Civilian Commendation from the Troy Police Department in appreciation of his contribution to law enforcement. Sam was appointed to the DaimlerChrysler Police Advisory Board in August, 2006. 

The City of Troy Fleet Division was named in the Top 10 Best Fleets in North America in March, 2005.  Sam Lamerato received the MIAPWA 2005 Professional Manager of the Year – Fleet Management Award in recognition of his outstanding career service achievements of public sector fleet management, operation, and maintenance and for exceptional performance in fleet maintenance education.

The City of Troy Fleet Division was named to the Top 100 Best Fleets in North America in 2004 and received the Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
