Friends of the Troy
Public Library New Friends Shop Opening Soon
(TROY,
MI) – The Friends of the Troy Public Library
have renovated their former Gift Shop. The new space will have a fresh and updated
look, and carry items such as environmentally friendly library totes in various
sizes and colors, greeting cards, consignment art, gifts, office supplies, toys
and a selection of books, DVDs, and other great specialty items from the highly
successful lower level Book Shop.
The Book Shop
continues in its current location downstairs, and is open Fridays and Saturdays
from 10 am – 1 pm and Sundays from 1-4 pm for great bargains. High school
summer reading list books are being collected for a special section coming
soon.
All the
proceeds from the Friends efforts go directly back into the Troy Library in the
form of free programs including the summer reading program, concerts, the
special needs collection, book clubs and much more. They provide outreach
locally and globally, by donating books to organizations and school districts
in need.
The Friends
is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that promotes and supports the
library through advocacy and fundraising, providing for over 400 free programs
annually to residents.
The Friends
are currently looking for volunteers to work flexible shifts in the new Friends
Shop. Tentative hours are Monday-Thursday from 12-8 pm, Fridays and Saturdays
from 12-5 pm and Sunday from 12-4 pm. If
you are interested in sharing your enthusiasm and energy in the new Friends
Shop, please contact Rhonda Hendrickson at hendricksonftpl@gmail.com or call 248.643.8686.
The Friends
membership is open to all and an individual membership is only $10 annually. Membership offers special events, volunteer
opportunities, and discounts for Friends activities. Support the Troy Public Library and be a part
of the Friends. The
Troy Public Library is located at 510 W. Big Beaver Rd.
