(TROY, MI) – Older adults concerned about falling and losing their
independence or baby boomers concerned with the safety of aging parents can
benefit from a great class at the Community Center, the “Fall Prevention
Class.” The six-week class will be held Thursdays, November 4 - December 16 from 1-2 pm (Act#125930F) or 2:15-3:15 pm (Act.#125930G). The fee is $54 for residents and $64 for
non-residents.
Older
adults and caregivers will practice various balance and strengthening
activities in a fun and empowering class proven to reduce the risk of
falling. The class will also include
simple stretches and energizing exercises.
The class will be taught by Sharon Claye, a Fall Prevention Specialist, A.C.E.
Certified Personal Trainer. Claye also holds a certification in Post Rehab Conditioning
and is trained in the Six Step Balance System Fall Prevention Program designed
by Dr. Betty Perkins-Carpenter. $18 materials fee due at
first class for Dr. Carpenter’s book. No class on November 25.
