Troy Public Library Travels to Rome During
“Afternoons with the Fine Arts” Program

(TROY, MI) – When in Troy, do as the Romans do with the help of Michael Farrell and his “From East to West: Art and Architecture of the Ancient World” series. Farrell will explore the magnificence that Roman has to offer, including art, architecture, and history. April sessions include:

Sunday, April 5, at 3:30 pm

Etruscans and Early Rome

Farrell discusses how the Etruscan civilization endured from an unknown prehistoric time, prior to the founding of Rome, until its complete assimilation. Discover how they made lasting contributions to the art and architecture of Italy and, ultimately, western civilization.

Sunday, April 26, at 3:30 pm

Roman Majesty and Might

Compared with Greek architecture, Roman buildings were more secular and utilitarian and built with grandeur and scale, as represented by the Coliseum and public baths of Rome. Explore Rome’s mosaics, theatres, temples and sanctuaries during this fascinating session.

These sessions are free for library patrons. To register, call 248.524.3542 or visit www.libcoop.net/troy online.  The Troy Public Library is located at 510 West Big Beaver Road.
