February Brings Fun for Kids at the Troy Public Library

(TROY, MI) – Help your kids beat cabin fever by visiting the Troy Public Library during the month of February! Kids of all ages can find something fun to do! Programs are free, thanks to The Friends of Troy Public Library, but may require registration.

Come explore these scheduled activities:

February 6 & 20: Technology Club, Library, 4:15-5:30 pm. Share educational fun on the Internet. Limited space.

Ages: 9+. Register. FREE.

February 7: Library Babies, Library, 11:30 am. You and your child will have a blast with lively activities, finger plays and singing stories. Ages: 6-12 months. Registration begins Jan. 23. FREE.

February 7: Teen Video Game Tournament, Library, 12-2:30 pm. Play in a Super Smash Brawl Tournament. DDR and Guitar Hero also available. Ages: 13-17. Register. FREE.

February 7: Lincoln's 200th Birthday Celebration, Library, 2 pm. Stories, games and crafts will be featured to celebrate this historic event. Registration begins Jan. 23. FREE.

February 8: Chamber Music Festival, Library, 3 pm. Attend the 9th annual collaboration of young musicians from the DSO Civic Ensembles. No registration. FREE.

February 12: Evening Family Story Time, Library, 7 pm. Presidential and Valentine songs and stories create a special time. Afterwards, we’ll share milk and cookies with everyone. All ages. No registration. FREE.

February 14: Valentine's Day Fun, Library, 11:30 am or 1:30 pm. Special stories and games gets children into loving moods. Ages: 3+. Register. FREE.

February 19: Anime Club, Library, 3:30-5:30 pm. Students who enjoy Anime and Manga are invited to watch Anime, discuss mange, play games and eat snacks. Ages: 13-17. No registration. FREE.

February 21: Saturday Family Story Time, Library, 11:15 am. Warm and delight your heart and mind with stories on this cold February morning. All ages. No registration. FREE.

February 21: Art Workshop, Library, 2 pm. “Crayon-resist Art” uses paint, chalk, and crayons in an unusual way. Ages: 3+. Registration begins Feb. 6. FREE.

February 24: Playtime at the Library, 10:15 am - 12 pm. Chat with other parents while the children make a craft and play. No registration required. All ages. No registration. FREE.

February 26: Writing Reports, Library, 7 pm. Learn the proper steps to writing a research paper. Grades: 4+. Registration begins Feb. 13. FREE.

February 27: Science Fun, Library, 10:45 am. Explore the world of science. Ages: 3-5. Register beginning Feb. 13. FREE.

February 28: Video Game Day, Library, 2 pm. Calling all gamers to show your best video skills. Play, hang out and eat pizza. Ages: 9-12. Registration begins Feb. 13. FREE.
