flu shots offered at troy community center OCTOBER 15

 

(TROY, MI) –The Oakland County Health Division is offering seasonal flu shots at the Troy Community Center on Thursday, October 15, from 10 am - 3 pm.  The novel influenza A (H1N1) vaccine is not currently planned for distribution on this date.

 

The Troy Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois.  For update information about the availability of the novel influenza A (H1N1) vaccine or additional locations where the flu shot is being offered, please see the Oakland County Health Division web site at http://www.oakgov.com/health/initiatives/flu_main or call the Health Division's flu shot hotline at 1-800-434-3358.

 

The seasonal flu shot is recommended for people 65 and older; for people younger than 65 with medical problems such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, etc., and for people who live or work with high-risk individuals.

 

All ages are welcome to get their flu shot.  People receiving a flu shot with Medicare/Medicaid need to bring their card and a picture ID, so that Medicare/Medicaid can be billed.  Those without Medicare/Medicaid, and who are able to pay, will be charged an $10 fee for the shot.

 

No appointment is required for a flu shot.
