Nature Center Captures
Essence of November
(TROY,
MI) – The Nature
Center looks forward to November with two key events during the month to help
everyone embrace the final days of Fall. The “Full Moon Madness,” and “Wild About Turkey” programs are open for registration.
“While many
are tempted to start cocooning this time of year, we love to pull out our hats
and gloves and enjoy the transition,” Nature Center Manager Stacy Yankee
said. “There’s so much to take in and
notice, and these programs help folks get out there and enjoy this time of year.”
Full
Moon Madness takes
place Friday, November 14, from 7-8:30
pm. This is a great chance to enjoy
the mysteries of nature at night on a full-moon hike on the Nature Center
Trail. This is a family program for ages
7 and up. The fee is $4 per person. Minimum registration numbers are required by
November 7.
“Join us on
the trail as we explore the ‘dark side’ of nature,” Yankee said. “The moonlit landscape
is spectacular and different kinds of wildlife are active during the ‘nightshift’
like, fox, mice, and owls.”
Wild
About Turkey is a new program scheduled for Saturday, November 22 from 9:30-11 am. This event is perfect for children in Grades
1-5, providing a great opportunity to learn all about this fascinating
bird. Through interactive activities,
stories and games participants will discover the rich history and some odd
behaviors of the Wild Turkey in Michigan. The fee is $6 per person and minimum
registration numbers are required by November 15.
The Lloyd
A. Stage Nature Center is a 100-acre facility operated by the Troy Parks and
Recreation Department. It is located at
6685 Coolidge Highway in Troy. A gateway
to the natural world, it has an interpretive center and more than two miles of
nature trails to enjoy, winding through meadows, forest and stream.
