(TROY, MI)
– The City of Troy is on the lookout for the best yards and gardens
around. If you think your yard is the
crème of the crop, or if you feel a neighbor’s yard deserves some recognition,
the June 30 deadline is fast approaching to send in your nominations for the 9th
Annual Troy Garden Awards.
Nominations may be submitted by phone,
fax, email or mail and should include the home or business address with zip
code. If possible, the name and/or phone
number of the homeowner or business you are nominating should also be
provided.
Call the Community Affairs Department
at 248.524.1147, fax at 248.524.3499 or email cindy.stewart@troymi.gov with the
information. Nominations can also be
sent to the Community Affairs Department, 500 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy, MI
48084. Nomination forms are available in
the summer edition of the Troy Today newsletter or on the City of
Troy’s Web site at www.troymi.gov under the Community Affairs Department.
“For the past eight years, we’ve seen
some of the most beautiful yards and gardens,” Cindy Stewart, Community Affairs
Director, said. “If you’ve ever thought
a neighbor or local business should be recognized for their hard work and effort
to beautify the City, this is your chance to do so.”
Judges will be visiting nominated
properties throughout July and issuing awards in a variety of categories. They
will be accompanied by City employees and possess City of Troy-issued photo ID
cards. Finalists will be notified by
mail during the month of August. Garden 2009 Award winners will be honored
before Troy City Council on a date to be announced.
If you have any questions about the
contest, call 248.524.1147.
