– As Fall has arrived, Troy’s Sanctuary Lake and Sylvan Glen golf courses are adjusting
their opening hours, with the earliest tee times now at 7:30 am as opposed to 7
am during the summer months. Online
tee times are available for both courses.

“The
Fall season is truly a wonderful time of the year for golf, especially with our
lower Fall rates,” said Jake Pilat,
Director of Golf Operations. “With the
kids back in school, it’s more difficult to head ‘up north’ for a golf
getaway. But both of Troy’s courses are
beautiful venues for the game, providing a convenient place to hit the links
before and between those back-to-school carpool responsibilities.”
Those who are new to golf – as well as
those looking to improve their game – should check out the Sanctuary Lake Golf Academy.
The Academy is coordinated by Paul Toski, a
20-year P.G.A. Professional. Toski and his staff offer a wide variety of private and
semi-private instructional programs for the beginner to the accomplished
amateur competitor. The practice
facility includes 70 hitting stations with both natural and artificial hitting
surfaces, and two practice greens, including a practice bunker.
Pro shops at both courses offer a full
line of apparel and golfing accessories.
In addition, the Titlest Fitting System at the
Sanctuary Lake practice facility provides custom club fittings.
“Sanctuary Lake Golf Course is the
perfect venue for an outing or golf league,” Pilat
said. “Large staging areas, an extensive
practice facility, and a full-service restaurant make for a complete and unique
experience.”
Both courses feature full-service
restaurants. Piper’s Pub at Sanctuary Lake has an indoor clubhouse with seating
for up to 50, and an outdoor covered patio with
seating for up to 144. On site at Sylvan Glen is the ever-popular Camp Ticonderoga Restaurant, with a
magnificent hunting lodge interior and beautiful patio seating.
Sanctuary
Lake Golf Course,
located at 1450 South Boulevard, is built on 200 acres. It is a links-style, par 71 course that
incorporates ornamental grasses, ponds, and heathered
plants. It features a practice facility
with a short-game area, clubhouse, full-service pro shop and Piper’s Pub, a
full-service restaurant. The Sanctuary Lake Golf Academy is also
available to golfers who want private or semi-private lessons.
Sylvan
Glen Golf Course,
located at 5725 Rochester Road, is an 18-hole, par 71 course
that covers over 150 acres and offers a challenging blend of water, trees and
sand. The addition of three new tee
boxes has added length, and new wetland areas add to the difficulty and
challenge at Sylvan Glen. Amenities include
a full-service pro shop, golf carts, and Camp Ticonderoga restaurant and grill
room. The facility supplies over 65,000
rounds of golf per season.
