New Hearing Loss Support Group Forms at
Troy Community Center
(TROY,
MI)
– Troy’s new Hearing Loss Support Group is holding a “Kick-Off Celebration” at
the Troy Community Center Wednesday,
September 10, at 6:30 pm. The group
will continue to meet the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8 pm and
will provide the latest information about hearing loss.
The
kick off meeting will feature the 20 minute captioned video “Unheard Voices”
and a demonstration of CART – real time captioning of
what is spoken at the meeting. It will
be facilitated by Liz Kobylak. Kobylak has a
profound hearing loss and is active at the state level with the Michigan
Hearing Loss Association.
The
Hearing Loss Support Group is for anyone with a hearing loss or anyone who cares
about someone with a hearing loss. The
meetings provide the latest information about hearing loss including assistive
hearing technology, telecommunication, speech reading,
and coping with hearing loss.
The
group is funded in part by a grant from the North Woodward Community
Foundation. There is no charge and
reservations are not required. The Troy
