TROY HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS HERSHEY
YOUTH TRACK AND FIELD MEET JUNE 13

(TROY, MI) – Troy Parks and Recreation is inviting boys and girls ages 9-14 (as of December 31, 2009) to test their athletic skills at the Hershey Track and Field Meet on Saturday, June 13, starting at 8:30 am at Troy High School, 4777 Northfield Parkway.

Created in 1975, the Hershey Track and Field Games is the largest youth sports program of its kind in the United States and Canada.  Meets take place in every state and province in North America.  The goal of the meets is to introduce kids to physical fitness through basic events like running, jumping and throwing.  In addition, the program strives to encourage kids to reach their potential and develop a sense of accomplishment.

“The Hershey Youth Program is designed to encourage physical fitness among youth, while emphasizing independence and sportsmanship” said Scott Mercer, Recreation Supervisor.

Registration forms are available at the Troy Community Center and participation is free. The Troy Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois.  For more information, call 248.524.3484.
