(TROY, MI) – The Hiking Adventure Club is a new activity created
for seniors who enjoy getting out in the fresh air for active hiking. Seniors will meet on the second Thursday of
each month at 9 am in the south parking lot of the Community Center. From
there, they will drive to a hiking spot in the metro area.
Led by Art
Stone, groups will hike until they have finished the trail and then have
lunch/refreshments afterward. These hikes are vigorous and designed for those
who want a more action oriented activity.
Costs for
the participant are limited to transportation and park entry fees (per vehicle
fee required) and personal incidentals. Bring lunch, water and munchies for the
hike. Trips return by 4 p.m. Hiking dates and locations are as follows:
June 12
- Bald Mountain Recreation Area –
With 15 miles of marked trails, this area ought to challenge the best of the
best. Near Lake Orion off Hwy. 24
July 10 -
Pontiac Lake Recreation Area –
11 miles of marked trails. North of M-59 and west of the City
of Pontiac.
August 5
(First Week of the Month) - Island Lake Recreation Area - more than 12 miles of looped trails
through woods and around lakes. Adjacent to Kensington Park
but on the south side of I-96.
