Check Out Great Kids Programs in July at the Troy Public Library
(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library has plenty of
fun activities for kids this July. Programs
are free, sponsored by The Friends
of Troy Public Library and may require registration.
Come explore these scheduled
activities:
July 1: Patriotic Art, 2 pm. Quilt
with the colors of the flag, gluing patchwork pieces onto paper to create
traditional folk art. Must register. Ages 8 and up.
July 7: Jewelry Art, 11:15 am or 1:30 pm.
Use beads, bangles and buttons to make an interesting artistic creation. Register beginning June 26.
Ages 3 and up.
July 8: Toddler Story Time, 10:15 or 11:15
am. Puppets, stories, fingerplays, flannel board
activities and a simple craft entertain children ages 24-39 months with a
parent or caregiver. Register beginning June 26.
July 9: Juggling Workshop with Joel Tacey, 1 pm. A great opportunity
to learn juggling with a wonderful teacher. Register beginning June 26.
Ages 8 and up.
July 11: Library
Babies, 11:30 am. Parents and their 6 to 12 month old babies will have a
blast with lively activities, fingerplays and singing
stories. Register
beginning June 26.
July 14: Make a Puppet, 11:15 am or 1:30 pm.
Make an animal puppet, choosing from a mix of noses,
fur, eyes and ears to make the puppet special.
Register beginning July 2. Ages 3 and up.
July 15: Old Fashioned Fun, 1:30 pm. Learn
abourt old fashioned toys, experience the fun of playing with them, and then
make a simple toy to take home. Register
beginning July 2. Ages
7 and up.
July 15: Reader’s Theatre, 7 pm. Come see a live production of a
favorite children’s book, featuring our very own Troy teens as performers. No registration. All ages.
July 16: Fancy Kids Project, 2 pm. Come fancy and dressed up to enjoy
games as well as a pocketbook project celebrating your favorite fancy
character. Register
beginning July 2. Ages 3 and up.
July 16: Evening
Family Story Time, 7 pm. Exciting stories will make you happy, followed
by milk and cookies. No registration. All ages.
July 19: Chess, 2-5 pm. Experience friendly competition as Tom Manion
leads students in chess. Seating is
limited. Register
beginning July 10. Ages 7 and up.
July 20: Preschool Story Time, 10:15 or
11:15 am. Stories, fingerplays, flannel board
activities and creative movement for independent listeners ages 3-5. Register beginning July 10.
July 21: Circular
Animals, 11:15 am or 1:30 pm. Bring an animal to life using your
imagination to create its face, hair and ears.
Register beginning on July 10. Ages 3 and up.
July 22: Mixed Up Creatures, 2 pm.
Create your own wacky, mixed up animals with a quick
twist of your wrist. Register
beginning July 10. Ages 8 and up.
July 23: Cock-a-Doodle
Doo!, 2 pm. Carly
Lindsay of Michigan Recreation Services will lead a hands-on program of facts
on fowls. Tickets are available
beginning July 10. All
ages.
July 24: Friday Movie
Matinee, 2 pm. Relax and enjoy some movies and cookies on this summer
day. No registration. All ages.
July 27: Lapsit Story Time, 10:15 or 11:15 am. Puppets,
stories, flannel board activities, music and playtime will entertain children
from ages 12-23 months with a parent or caregiver. Register beginning July 17.
July 28: Strike Up
the Band!, 11:15 am or 1:30 pm. Make a bag shaker, sing songs and do finger
activities to music for fun. Register beginning July 17.
Ages 3 and up.
July 29: Geometric
Design, 2 pm. We will supply you
with cutouts of geometric forms – pyramid, rectangle, and hexagon with a window
cutout to create and put together your very own city or building. Register beginning July 17. Ages 3 and up.
