MI) – The Troy Museum
and Historic Village has a number of fun programs for kids and families during
the month of June, including:
Drop-in Fiddling -- Friday, June 19 at 1 pm.
Bring your instrument and play
tunes with Ms. Anne. The program is
included with the regular admission fee.
Museum Tour and Candlemaking – Saturday, June 20 at 1 pm
This
is a chance to tour the museum buildings, learn more about them and make your
very own beeswax candles. Fee: $5.
Story Time Under the Story Tree, Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 23 to
August 27 at 11:30 am:
Children can bring a blanket and some snacks to enjoy while listening to tales
read under the story tree.
Cookin’
Hearthside, Thursdays, June 25 to August 20 at 10 am: Watch typical pioneer fare being prepared. Different tasty treats are
demonstrated each week.
Craft Demonstrations, Saturdays,
June 27 to August 22 from 11:30 am -1:30 pm: Watch the Museum volunteers perform various crafts such
as weaving, quilting, blacksmithing and many more.
Copper Wire
Workshop: Coils and Connections,
Saturday, June 27, 10 am-12 pm
Participants
ages 7 and older can learn how to make copper coils of different sizes and
shapes. See what happens when you push,
pull and twist the coils, and then connect your coils into something fun to
wear. Participants will learn proper use
of hammers and other simple hand tools. Register by June 22.
Fee: $15.
Log Cabin Day, Sunday,
June 28, from 1-5 pm
Hands-on
family fun in the 1830s cabin. Try doing laundry, carding wool and other
pioneer activities.
