Birthday Tea Party Slated for Saturday, February 6

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Museum and Historic Village is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the publication of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie with a special display during the month of February, including a special Birthday Tea Party on February 6.

The display comes to the Troy Museum direct from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum located in Mansfield, Missouri.  This is the home of “Rocky Ridge Farm” where Laura and Almanzo lived out their married lives and where she wrote the famous Little House books.  The display, “Laura Ingalls Wilder – The Journey of a Pioneer Family,” provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the life of a America’s est-known pioneer girl.

This traveling display contains photographs and information relating to Laura Ingalls Wilder, her famous “Little House” books and America’s westward expansion.  The accessible exhibit will be in the Pioneer Room of the main museum building.  Stop by the Museum and check it out.  The Museum is open Monday-Saturday, 9 am-4:30 pm.  Admission fees are $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under the age of 6.

A special Laura Ingalls Wilder Birthday Tea Party is scheduled for Saturday, February 6 from 10:30 am-noon to celebrate her birthday (February 7, 1867).  Come dressed in a period costume or your Sunday best.  Tea, finger foods, and activities just like Laura would have done will be part of the fun.  A special take-home memento of the occasion is included.

The Birthday Tea Party is for ages 6-12.  Registration is required.  The fee is $15 per child.  The Museum is located at 60 West Wattles Road at the northwest corner of Wattles and Livernois.  For more information, or to register, call 248.524.3570.
