(TROY,
MI) – The
Troy Parks & Recreation Department’s “30 Days to Health” programs continues
with a second week of offering special classes, activities, tips, and events to
help promote healthy lifestyle choices.
The Troy Parks &
Recreation Department has teamed up with REI, Team Mongo, the American Cancer
Society, Whole Foods Market, and Drs. Justin Berlin and Christopher Passalacqua to offer a wide breadth of health-related
programming. The fee for this program is $10 and includes free passes every
Friday for the Troy Community Center plus admissions to a variety of fitness
classes and seminars. Classes and Seminars include:
Fitness
Classes: Including Power Sculpt, Cardio Interval, the Core, Group
Cycle, Cycle and Sculpt, and a fitness room orientation with a personal
trainer.
Outdoor
Clinic: Including Hiking America’s Southwest, Geocaching 101, Day Hiking in Michigan, and Bicycling
Maintenance Essentials
Nutrition
Seminars: Including Magic Whole Grains and ABC’s of Supplements and
Healthy Aging.
Health
Series: Including classes on diet, exercise and stress presented
by Drs. Justin Berlin & Christopher Passalacqua.

the second week for the “30 Days to Health” program, includes:

9:
Magic of Whole Grains from 7-8 p.m. Join Whole Foods Market in Troy as we present
a crash course on high protein grains. We’ll be exploring cooking
techniques, tips and more; focusing on whole grains that are lower in
carbohydrates, high in fiber and rich in nutrients. Taste, learn and
enjoy what makes these grains so amazing; bring your appetite and an open mind!

March
11: The Core at 10 a.m. A strong core is critical to better
posture and injury prevention. Improve
total body strength, core muscular endurance, balance, joint stability and
flexibility while focusing on your “core” muscles, specifically abdominals and
lower back. This class is 30 minutes of
focused isolated resistance and will complement your regular cardiovascular
routine. Additional registration required.
March 12: Relay for Life Kick Off at 6
p.m. Join the American Cancer Society and find information
about their popular Relay for Life fundraiser.

13:
Free-For-All Fridays from 5:30 a.m. -
10:30 p.m. Free daily pass for 30 Days to Health program participants. Check-in at Control Desk.

14:
Diet Health Series from 2-4 p.m. in Room
303. Presented by Drs. Justin Berlin and Christopher Passalacqua. Cancer,
heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol can all be greatly
reduced with a proper diet. They will
teach you how to eat the ideal diet and also give easy and affordable ways to
put this diet into practice. Also
discussed will be how to lose fat and keep it off and just why all those fad
diets aren’t working. Additional registration required.
