Kids Find Their Place in History at the Museum

 

 

(TROY, MI) – Fascinating tales and fun activities await curious young minds at the Troy Museum & Historic Village.  Join historians during the month of March to learn the exciting facts about the City of Troy’s past!

 

Cheddar’s Preschool Story Hour – Wednesday, March 4, at 10:30-11:15 am.

Listen to a classic tale and complete a craft revolving around this month’s theme – Mother Goose Olympics.  A yummy treat will be served to complete the experience. This event is appropriate for children ages 2-5 and all children must be accompanied by an adult.  Phone registration is required for this free event.

 

MuseumTour and Candlemaking – Saturday, March 14, from 1-3 pm. Take a trip through Troy’s past when the paths are sprinkled with snow. An interpreter will guide your visit to the City’s crown jewel as you learn about your community’s heritage and hand-dip a souvenir candle.  Dress for the weather.  Fee: $5 per person. This event is appropriate for first-graders to adult.  Registration required.

 

Homelife Tour and Candlemaking – Saturday, March 28, from 1-2:15 pm. Compare living in the pioneer log cabin, Civil War-era Caswell house, and turn-of-the-century Parsonage farmhouse.  Discover the architecture, cooking, social roles, and technology of daily life. Complete the experience by hand-dipping beeswax candles.  Dress for the weather. The tour is for those in third grade or older.  Fee: $5. Registration required.
