Troy Public Library Hosts “Factory Man” Author on October 14

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library introduces a “Meet the Author – Automotive Series” on Wednesday, October 14, from 7:-8:30 pm.  James E. Harbour, a leading automotive industry analyst and founder of the Harbour Report, will share his brutally honest assessment of the auto industry as detailed in his autobiography, “Factory                        Man,” published earlier this year by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Factual, and non-technical, the book is co-authored with James V. Higgins, an award-winning automotive reporter, columnist and editor who covered the industry for “The Detroit News.”  “Factory Man” is about the epic struggle of the U.S. auto industry to catch up to Japan in quality and productivity.  It includes a detailed description of how Detroit went astray, beginning right after World War II.

A book signing and sale will be available following Harbour’s remarks.   The presentation is free, but registration is required by calling 248.524.3542 or online at www.libcoop.net/troy.

The Troy Public Library is located at 510 West Big Beaver Road.  For more information, call the Troy Public Library at 248.680.7290, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Resource Center at 800.733.4763 or  www.sme.org/factoryman.
