Mr. Troy Competition Set for September 19 at Troy Daze

Calling all Troy Guys to Apply by August 31

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Daze Festival Committee is now accepting applications for the annual Mr. Troy Competition on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 pm in the Entertainment Tent of the Troy Daze Festival, which runs Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20.

According to Cindy Stewart, Chair of the Mr. Troy Competition, men, ages 17 and over, are encouraged to submit an application to participate in one of the most celebrated activities of the Troy Daze Festival. The event will also include the musical talents of Natalie Myziuk, who won the 2007 talent contest at the festival.

"This is a wonderful event that allows men to not only demonstrate their accomplishments but to also display their impact on the City of Troy and vice versa,” Stewart said.  “Participants and audience members will have a fun and entertaining evening as we showcase all of the fabulous men in Troy."

Men are eligible if they either live, go to school or work in Troy.  All contestants will be introduced in their casual clothes. They must also appear dressed in their favorite sport or hobby attire, and finally in their best suit.  Judges choose the winners based on confidence, personality, and quality of answers. The winner, who will be decided by a panel of judges, will receive $250 and the runners up receive $150 and $100, respectively.

Applications can be obtained at Troy City Hall, 500 W. Big Beaver (Community Affairs Dept.) or the Troy Community Center at 3179 Livernois, or by calling Cindy Stewart at 248.524.1147.  Applications are also available online on the City Of Troy web site at www.troymi.gov/troydaze.  The deadline is August 31, 2009.
