Name the Troy Public Library Café
Contest
(TROY, MI) – The
Troy Public Library vending café will be opening this spring and the café needs
a name! The TPL is sponsoring a contest for
Troy residents to think of a great name for this new library hotspot.
The contest, open to all Troy residents, will
run from Wednesday, April 8 – Wednesday, April 23. Entries can be submitted via email to Cathy
Russ, Library Director, at C.Russ@troymi.gov, or
dropped off in the “name the café” entry box located in the lobby of the Troy
Library.
The winning entry will be chosen in late
April by a panel of judges, including the Library Director, Assistant City
Manager John Lamerato, a member of the Library Advisory Board, and Jeff
Stewart, President of the Friends of the Troy Public Library. The sign bearing
the name of the café will be created and hung in the library over the café
door, with an acknowledgement to the winner.
The new café will be an informal
gathering/meeting space, with vending machines, tables and chairs, and some
additional easy chairs, where library users can enjoy refreshments, talk to
friends, take a break from studies, and relax! The café walls are being painted
by students from the Troy High School art program, who are designing some
beautiful pictures for the walls featuring
authors or characters from books (i.e. Alice in Wonderland, Edgar Allan Poe,
etc.).
The Troy Public Library is located at
510 W. Big Beaver Rd.
