Troy Public Library Book Discussion Features Jane Austen Novels

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Public Library introduces two programs designed to involve adults in a community wide reading initiative called “One Book, One Community.”   Centered on the novels of Jane Austen, the two September programs are set to stimulate discussion about a common reading experience in conjunction with the Suburban Library Cooperative and its member libraries.

“Booked for Lunch” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, from 12:15-1:15 pm and will focus on Austen’s “Emma.”  No registration is required.  Participants are encouraged to bring a beverage, lunch and their thoughts about the novel.  Copies of the book are available at the Adult Service reference desk.

A Jane Austen Film Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, from 12-5 pm.  The two featured films are “Emma” with Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Northam and “Bride and Prejudice,” the Bollywood musical adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice.”  Attendees are welcome to register to attend one or both films and can plan to enjoy tea and scones between the showings. (Films are recommended for older teens and above).

Registration is required for the film festival at www.libcoop.net/troy  or by calling 248.524.3542.  The Troy Public Library is located at 510 West Big Beaver Road.
