Downloadable Audiobooks for Your iPod or Zune
Now Available at the Troy Public Library

(TROY, MI) – Do you like listening to audiobooks, but wish there was a way to download and listen to them on your iPod or Zune? Now you can with new downloadable OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks, available from the Troy Public Library.

The Library has always had audiobooks available in the Windows Media Audio (WMA) format. While this format allows audiobooks to be played on personal computers, it does not make it easy to transfer the audiobooks to popular portable MP3 players. The Library’s new OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks will be able to be transferred to the iPod and Zune, as well as other popular MP3 players from Creative, Sony, SanDisk and more. Plus, these files can still be played on a PC.

The Library’s OverDrive MP3 Audiobook collection features more than 300 titles, ranging from classic literature, fiction, language learning and more.  You can access OverDrive by clicking on the Downloadable eBooks, Audiobooks, and Videos link in the left-hand menu of the TPL Web site, www.libcoop.net/troy. Before using OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks for the first time, users must install the free OverDrive Media Console. Then, search for a title, check it out online using a Troy Library card, and download the title to a computer and personal device.

For more information regarding OverDrive, e-mail John Robertson, Troy Public Library Technology Department, at j.robertson@troymi.gov or call 248-524-3548. The Troy Public Library is located at 510 West Big Beaver Road.
