(TROY, MI)
– The Troy Community Center is offering an opportunity to check out the Troy
Parks and Recreation Programming with a free “Preview Week” from
Tuesday September 8 - Sunday, September 13.
“There
is nowhere else you can try so many activities all in one week,” Fitness
Coordinator John Hug said. “Come sample some of our most popular programs
and activities and receive a $5 coupon that can be used for future parks and
recreation programs.”
A
wide variety of classes and activities – including fitness, craft, sports and
yoga classes – will be offered throughout the week. The complete schedule available

Tuesday, September 8 –
Saturday, September 12: A wide variety of fitness classes offered for
free on a drop-in basis. Everything from Danceit to cycle &
sculpt to cardio and weights.

Thursday, September 10,
1-4 pm: Senior Program Open House and Volunteer Fair
to learn more about craft clubs, card groups, support groups and senior fitness
programs. Includes free
refreshments, five-minute chair massages and door prizes.
Friday, September 11,
6:30-8:30 pm: A private screening of the brand new movie FRESH,
a film by Ana Sofia Joanes that shows the new
thinking about what the nation is eating and explores what whole, fresh,
sustainable food is all about.
Registration is recommended for this event due to limited seating. This is the only program with a fee: $5 for non-residents and $3 for residents. Sponsored by Whole Foods
and “mind, body & spirits inspired dining.”
Saturday, September 12,
9-9:30 am: Start your morning out with a walk around the
Community Center Walking Path. Meet at 9
am at the courtyard located at the south entrance of the Community Center. Learn how to develop a walking program and
participate in a one-mile walk. A free
pedometer will be given to the first 75 participants.
Saturday, September 12,
10:30 am-12:30 pm: “Andiamo Lean,” a
presentation by Chef Jim and Helen Phillips, winner of television’s “Biggest
Loser.” Learn how to apply low-calorie
density to your eating habits and meal preparations and enjoy samples from the Andiamo Lean menu.
The class is free, but due to limited seating registration is
recommended.
Saturday, September 12:
Community Center Tours, Lobby Displays, food and beverage samples from
the preferred caterer A & S Catering and a whole host of free activities:
