(Troy, MI) – The
City of Troy’s Department of Public Works Streets Division received an Award of
Excellence from the Michigan Concrete Paving Association for its 2008 Major
Road Maintenance. The award was
presented at the organization’s annual workshop in February and at the March 30
City Council meeting.
The award
recognized the City’s oversight of a major concrete repair contract including over
21,000 syds of concrete repair and replacement working with Six-S, Inc. The project was completed from August through
October, 2008. The Department of Public
Works did the design and oversaw the bidding and inspection of the
program. It ran on time and traffic
control was well coordinated with residents and business owners.
The City of Troy is
responsible for maintaining over 54 center lane miles of major and industrial
roads and 260 center lane miles of local road.
The Engineering Department maintains a comprehensive pavement management
program which helps them to assess and track the condition of both their
asphalt and concrete pavements.
