(TROY,

– Don’t miss out on the perfect opportunity to hob knob with the big guy in the
red suit! Santa will be visiting the Troy Museum and Historic Village during its
transformation to “Santa’s Village” Saturday, Dec. 6 from 1 - 4 pm.
“We’re
always excited to have Santa Claus pay us a visit!” said Museum Director
Loraine Campbell. “Kids can share their
holiday wishes with him and sign his book with the help of Mrs. Claus.”
Guests
can take a stroll through the village to see each building decorated in fresh,
fragrant greens by the Troy Garden Club.
Free cookies and cider will be dispensed from the Elves’ Canteen. The
elves will also be organizing lots of fun activities for children throughout
Santa’s Village.
“Santa
arrives at 2 pm in a horse-drawn carriage,” Campbell said. “It’s a special way to usher in this festive
season.”
The Bellisima Handbell Choir will
perform at 1:15 pm in the Old Troy Church. The North Pole Gift Shop will have a
glittering array of stocking-stuffers for sale.
While
browsing for gifts, guests will have an opportunity to pass on even more good
spirit to others as active duty Marines and Marine veterans will be on hand to
collect new, unwrapped and unopened toys for needy children as part of the Toys
for Tots program. The Museum will be
accepting toy donations from Nov. 17 – Dec. 7.
“We
hope that residents will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to give
back to the community with a toy of underprivileged children,” Campbell said.
Parking and free shuttle bus service
will be provided from the Zion Christian Church located at 3668 Livernois Road,
between Big Beaver and Wattles. The
Museum is located at 60 West Wattles. Admission
is free, but donations are welcome. For
more information, call the Museum at 248.524.3570.
