(TROY,
MI) – The
Troy Public Library’s 8th Annual Shared Inheritances series, which kicked off in
May, is coming to an end with its final installment on Sunday, July 6 at 2 pm. The series will feature Iraqis-Chaldeans in Troy: Poetry & Book
Reading by Author Weam Namou.
This presentation will be followed by UR Group playing traditional
music. The group includes Ghassan Hami
(Drum - Dumbeg), Thamin Jabiro (Violin), and Ms. Ghada
al-Makedsy (Lute - Ud). Ms.
Makedsy will also play solo lute. The grand opening
of the art exhibition, entitled “Layla ... an Iraqi
Candle in the Night,” by visual artist and historian Amer
Hanna Fatuhi, will take place during the event.
“Our
City is one of the most diverse communities in the state,” said Cathy Russ, Library
Director. “So it only makes sense to celebrate this fact with special
performances and diverse programs that honor our community’s broad
multicultural traditions.”
