Troy Museum Features the “Shear” Joy of It Program July 6-10

 

 

(TROY, MI) –Enjoy spinning yarn and wool, while learning about its importance to our world of textiles. The Troy Museum offers fun activities all week long involving spinning and weaving! Activities Include:

 

July 6, from 10-11:30 am:  Ewe-nique Knits of Royal Oak will share knowledge and expertise on the spinning and weaving of wool and angora. An angora rabbit may appear to add a special “touch” to this presentation. Also, watch as wool is carded, spun, and woven on a lap loom and weave a mini pot holder ($).

 

July 7, from 10-11:30 am : Watch as wool is carded, spun and woven on a lap loom, and weave a project ($). Then Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep will be read to young visitors.

 

July 9, from 10 am-2 pm: See two alpacas from Powder Puff Pacas, weave a wrist band ($), watch as wool is carded, spun and woven on a lap loom, and weave a mini pot holder ($).

 

July 10, from 10-11:30 am:  Observe as wool is carded, spun and woven on a lap loom, and weave a project ($).

 

Programs are included with admission. Effective June 29, the Troy Museum & Historic Village will charge daily admission of $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 6-17.  Children under the age of six are free.  Annual passes are also available for $15 per individual or $25 per family.  Troy Historical Society members can inquire about special pass rates available to them.  Individuals participating in a paid program will not be required to pay an admission fee.
