Spring Outdoor Soccer League Introduces the Game to Young Players

(TROY, MI) – The Troy Parks and Recreation Department has joined Future Star Sports for a second year to offer a Spring Soccer League.  This is a six-week instructional league for kindergarten-second grade residents only.

The goal is for players to have fun while learning positioning, ball control, player-to-player communication and teamwork on the field.  No score or standings are kept.

Co-ed Teams will be put together on a request basis with a maximum of 13 players per team.  Future Star Sports provides coaches on the sideline and field.  Team jerseys and a season-ending participation medal are provided.

The first week of play will be used as a ball control practice, ice breaker and an opportunity for the children and parents to meet the coaches.  Parents will be given instruction for getting friends together on the same teams – a first priority – and accessing the game times which will fluctuate between 10 am and 1 pm start times.  Games will be played weeks two through six.

Game dates are Saturdays, May 1, 8, 22 and June 5 and Sundays, May 16 and June 13.  There are no games Memorial Day weekend.  Games will be played at Troy High and Troy Athens.

Registration is required.  Two ability divisions are offered:  kindergarten-first grade and first-second grade (depending upon ability and athleticism).  The fee is $69 per player.  For more information, please call 248.524.3484 or see www.futurestarsports.com.  Register at the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois.
