Troy Museum Presents “History of Dance” for Thursday Teas at Two Event

(TROY, MI) – As part of its monthly “Thursday Teas at Two Series,” the Troy Museum and Historical Village is hosting a program on “History of Dance,” Thursday, February 24 at 2 pm. Sip a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of history.

Learn about and see the dance steps from the Regency Period to Civil War era, up through Barn and Contra Dancing. Glen and Judi Morningstar will lead us on a “Dance Through American History” with help from fiddle and dulcimer. Learn about the historical elements of dance styles, clothing and music, from the European settlement of the American Colonies, through today.

Enjoy an afternoon with friends. Sip a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of history. A different delightful topic each month!

Glen and Judi Morningstar grew up in the Saginaw Valley where their families enjoyed the music and dancing that was around them at Grange Dances and House Parties. The two formed The Olde Michigan Ruffwater Stringband in 1978 and have played across the Midwest for concerts and dances since then. Each year they lead Regency Period Dancing and Civil War era dancing in many towns in Michigan, Indiana, & Ohio.
