MI) – As part of its monthly
“Thursday Teas at Two Series,” the Troy Museum and Historical Village is
hosting a program on “History of Dance,”
Thursday, February 24 at 2 pm. Sip a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of
history.
Learn
about and see the dance steps from the Regency Period to Civil War era, up
through Barn and Contra Dancing. Glen and Judi Morningstar will lead us on a
“Dance Through American History” with help from fiddle
and dulcimer. Learn about the historical elements of dance styles, clothing and
music, from the European settlement of the American Colonies, through today.
Enjoy
an afternoon with friends. Sip a cup of tea while enjoying a slice of history.

Glen
and Judi Morningstar grew up in the Saginaw Valley where their families enjoyed
the music and dancing that was around them at Grange Dances and House Parties.
The two formed The Olde Michigan Ruffwater
Stringband in 1978 and have played across the Midwest
for concerts and dances since then. Each year they lead Regency Period Dancing
and Civil War era dancing in many towns in Michigan, Indiana, & Ohio.
Fee
$7.00 per person, includes museum admission. Registration is required in
advance. Call or visit during museum hours to register. Space is limited.
Program will be held in the Old Troy Church on the Museum grounds. Refreshments
are provided. Bring your own teacup or use our disposable products. Program
begins at 2 pm and lasts one hour.
The
Museum is located at 60 West Wattles Road at the northwest corner of Wattles
