(TROY, MI) – Join in the tradition of Troy’s biggest annual
event, the Troy Daze Festival. Troy Daze
celebrates 40 years of family fun this year and there are lots of ways for
citizens to get involved. The Festival
will take place September 11-14 at Boulan Park. Opportunities for involvement include:
- Volunteers – Adult volunteers are needed to shuttle the festival-goers
between the parking areas and the festival grounds, call Jeff at 248.944.0867
for details. Student volunteers are needed in a number of roles during the
festival, fill out the form available in your high school office.
- Mr. Troy – Men ages 17 and up compete based on confidence, personality and quality of
answers. The contest takes place
Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. All contestants will be introduced in their casual
clothes, and will appear dressed in their favorite sport or hobby attire,
as well as in a suit and tie. Win

- Parade – The Troy Daze Parade takes place Saturday morning at
10 am. They are seeking groups to
build floats, organizations to march in the parade, and more. Call Diana at 248.515.4227 if you would

- Photography Contest – Amateur
photographers of all ages are invited to enter a photo to be displayed at
the Festival. Prizes will be
awarded in various categories on Sunday at 5 pm. Submit entries by September 5 to the
Troy Community Center. Include the
Photography Contest form available at www.troymi.gov/troydaze.
- Cutest Infant &Toddler Contest – Parents
submit photos of little ones ages 0-3.
Photos will be displayed for voting at the Troy Public Library from
August 18-September 1 and at the Troy Community Center from September 2-10
before being on display at Boulan Park during
the Festival. Photo size should be
3 ½” x 5”. Award ceremony takes
place on Sunday at 5 pm. Call

- Talent Show – Show off your talent in three
minutes or less on Saturday afternoon.
Categories for ages 5-18 years and a chance to win gift cards and
trophies. Performers must provide
their own back up music. Fill out

- EthniCity – Ethnic
booth participants are needed to host a display table in the EthniCity tent, call Kelly at 248.689.2748 for
details. EthniCity
also hosts a Poster Contest for
Troy students. Create a poster about this year's theme: Embracing Diversity through The Golden Rule: “Treat others as you would like to be
treated.” Prizes awarded on
Sunday at 5 pm. Call Michelle at

- Youth & Parent Contest – The Boys
& Girls Club of Troy invites children to compete on Friday at 7:30 pm
in fun categories like “Curliest Hair,” “Most Freckles,” “Biggest Bubble,”
and more. Kids team up with their
parents for the “Mother/Daughter” and “Father/Son” Look-Alike
Contests. Just show up!
- Old-Time Festival Fun – Join the
community for old-time festival fun to celebrate Troy Daze’s 40th
Anniversary! Activities will
include pie-eating contests, hula-hoop contests, a three-legged race, and
more. Just show up for the fun on
Saturday at 2:30 pm!
