The Troy Fire Department will hold its annual recognition
ceremony on Wednesday, September 14 at 7 pm to honor its firefighters for their
actions and accomplishments, and to remember the 343 fallen firefighters of
September 11, 2001. A short memorial
will start the event followed by the TFD recognition and awards program in Rooms
304 & 305 of the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois.
Guests of honor include the Mayor, Louise Shilling, and City
Manager John Szerlag. Colors will be presented by the TFD Honor Guard.
Fire Chief William Nelson will present
awards to several firefighters for their actions and accomplishments over the
last year.
Troy’s 1940 Ford pumper and one of its newest 2010 Pierce
pumpers will be on display near the east entrance of the Community Center.
A piece of the World Trade Center will also be displayed.
