(TROY,
MI) – The City of
Troy’s annual classic car show, Troy
Traffic Jam: Chrome, Muscle and Music, will
once again roar into the Columbia Center for its second year! Held Sunday, August 9, from 10 am - 3 pm,
this event will combine all of the fun and excitement of traditional car shows
with the addition of entertaining music from DJ Bob Steel and delicious food
from Achatz Handmade Pie Company, Gateway Deli, Insalata,
Maggiano’s and
Rib City.
Applications
from interested car owners are now being accepted. Major sponsors are Kirco,
Columbia Center, The Suburban Collection and Kelly Services.
“We had a
spectacular turn-out last year,” the Director of Community Affairs for the City
of Troy, Cindy Stewart said. “We saw a lot of support from our participants,
local sponsors and visiting car enthusiasts. As a fundraising event for the
Troy Historical Society, we managed to raise more than $50,000 to help with
their Heritage Campaign. We’re hoping that this year, Troy Traffic Jam will
make an even bigger impact on our City.”
Vehicles
from a variety of eras before 1974 will be featured at this exciting
chrome-filled car show! The $15 fee for
each vehicle includes goodie bags, prizes and dash plaques. Applications for advanced registration are
due August 1. Registration will be available the day of the event, space
permitting. Download applications online at www.troymi.gov/carshow.
A family
fun event for all, Troy Traffic Jam will feature hundreds of vehicles that will
be striving to win the coveted “Best of Show” title, which will be awarded
based on votes from the public, as well as a number of additional prizes to be
awarded for the top three cars in each class.
Come and
see shining chrome and gleaming paint as a variety of classic automobiles, hot
rods and muscle cars will be featured at the show, or take a glimpse at what
the future holds in store for the automotive industry with an assortment of
innovative concept cars. Also featured will be great music by DJ Bob Steel and
fabulous food for sale from local restaurants.
Business
sponsorship packages are also available for the 2009 event. For information, please

and Square Lake, to the Troy Museum & Historic Village site at 60 W.
