Troy Museum Celebrates Michigan History Week May 16-22

 

 

(TROY, MI) – Commemorate the “Mitten State” from May 16-22 at the Troy Museum and Historic Village with a self-guided tour, Lincoln Discovery Hunt, Artifact Hunt, picnicking, and hands-on activities and two special programs on Saturday, May 16:

 

One-Room Schoolhouse Family Activity – 1:30-2:30 pm

“Miss Post” will teach reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic the old-fashioned way in historic Poppleton School.  Recreate the Poppleton School Rhythm Band.  Be on your best behavior or experience classroom discipline!  The fee is $3 per person and registration is required by May 4.

 

Michigan One-Room Schoolhouses Booksigning – 2:30-3:30 pm

Photographer, artist and author Mary Keithan will be at the Troy Museum to present her new book which features photos and histories of nearly 100 one-room schoolhouses from all over Michigan.  The booksigning will be held in the historic Poppleton Schoolhouse.  The public is welcome and no registration is required.
