–The 9th Annual Troy Public Library, Youth Chamber Music Institute
(YCMI) will be held August 3-7, 2008.
The popular features students of viola, cello, violin, or piano at
college, high school or advanced middle school levels who have been selected
to
work with the Kneisel Trio to master ensemble skills.
In honor of the program, free concerts
will be held on Sunday, August 3, at 3
pm and Thursday, August 7, at 7 pm.
The Sunday concert will feature The Kneisel Trio with
Associate Coach Lise Kartman
McDonough as they perform Beethovan’s Piano Trio in B-flat Major (“Archduke”), Op.
97. The final concert on Thursday will
showcase the student ensembles and the pieces that they perfected over the
week.
“The Kneisel
Trio does an excellent job teaching the skills needed to become master
musicians,” Troy Library Program Developer Barb Schaich said. “The Youth Chamber Music Institute is a
wonderful learning experience for talented young musicians”
The critically acclaimed Kneisel Trio
has performed throughout the United States.
The Trio began playing together in 1990 while attending The Juilliard
School. Members of the Beaux Arts Trio,
The Julliard Quartet and Harvey Shapiro have coached them. Their mission is to enhance the ability of
each participant to play chamber music by building their collaborative skills,
teaching rehearsal techniques, problem solving, interpretation and
expression.
This year’s YCMI is funded in part
through the generosity of Amateur Chamber Music Players and the Clinton B. Ford
Fund of its ACMP Foundation, an organization that promotes chamber music
activities for amateur musicians, and a Community Grant from Target Stores.
