How do I obtain a personal protection order?

Take documentation of prior assaults or threats (police reports, medical records, etc.) to the Oakland County Family Court. Personnel from the Women's Survival Center will be available at the Court to assist in filling out the necessary paperwork. You will then meet with a Court referee. If enough proof is presented, then the Court will issue a Personal Protection Order. If you prefer, you may hire a private attorney who will assist you in preparing and presenting the proper court papers.
