What types of jobs are at the City of Troy?

We hire for full-time, part-time and seasonal/temporary positions in that work at several city facilities including City Hall, the Department of Public Works, Troy Public Library, Troy Community Center, Troy Historical Museum and Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center. Positions include professional, management, law enforcement, technical, clerical, labor, and customer service.

Where are jobs posted?

Current job opportunities are posted on this website, on our job hotline (248.524.3339) and on bulletin boards in Troy City Hall, the Troy Public Library, and the Troy Community Center.

How do I apply for a job?

Applications are accepted only for those jobs which are currently posted. You may download an application online, apply in person at the Human Resources Department (or Community Center for seasonal recreation positions only), or request an application by mail or by phone (248.680.7287).

What are the requirements to be a City of Troy Police Officer?

When we recruited for Police Officer in 2007, the minimum qualifications were as follows (these are subject to change for future recruiting efforts):

  1. Not less than 21 years of age as of date of filing application
  2. Vision correctable to 20/20; normal color vision and normal hearing
  3. 12th grade reading and writing proficiency
  4. Bachelor Degree or Associate's Degree in any field , or a minimum of 60 credit hours or 90 semester hours, for an accredited college or university. Recent sworn Police Officer experience (within 5 years) may be substituted for years of college on a year for year basis. One year of recent satisfactory experience as a City of Troy Police Service Aide may be substituted for up to one year of college (30 credit hours). Experience in military police, private security, campus security and/or reserves will not be considered.
  5. No prior felony convictions
  6. Valid Michigan drivers license with good driving record
  7. Must have taken or signed up to take the MCOLES Pre-employment Test
