HOURS: Afternoon
Shift (with $ .20/hour shift premium).
Current shift is Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM.
DUTIES
(Not All-Inclusive)
Performs
high level automotive, truck and heavy (off-road) equipment repair, welding, fabricating,
vehicle
diagnostics, electrical system troubleshooting, and installation and
removal of emergency lighting and radio equipment.
Provides training and supervision to other employees. Performs general service
and labor work and other similar duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
(Open Competitive Applicants)
· High school (or
GED equivalent) or trade school graduate.
· Five (5) years
of recent full-time paid work experience performing light, medium and heavy
equipment repair.
· Strongly prefer
supervisory experience.
· Prefer current
Master State of Michigan and ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, applicants
with relevant certifications may be considered before those without.
· Knowledgeable in
the principles of gasoline and diesel equipment operation and heavy equipment
repair methods.
· Be able to weld
with gas, acetylene, oxygen and MIG techniques.
· Must have valid
Michigan driver license with a good driving record at the time of application, and
must obtain CDL with a Group A designation including air brakes with P and N
endorsements and Medical Card as required by the State of Michigan before
initial probation period is complete.
· Must also obtain
a State of Michigan Master Heavy Duty Truck
Certification before initial probation is complete.

period, and have received a satisfactory score on their most recent performance
evaluation.

receive at least a score of 70 on each portion of the exam to be placed on the
eligible list.

this classification and failed any portion of the examination may not apply
under this announcement.
