Field Day

Second to Fifth Grade

Field Day is designed to provide groups of 45 to 90 students with an array of history lessons aimed at developing an understanding of life in 19th century Michigan. Teachers choose three 45-minute activities, each of which combines an engaging interpreter-led presentation with a hands-on experience. Select from:

• Candle making
• Pioneer life/ butter making (fall/spring only)
• One-room school lesson
• Old time toys
• Tin Punch

Print Shop, Exploring Artifacts, Life 100 Years Ago, Blacksmithing and Woodworking demonstrations are offered depending on the availability of trained presenters. (Program duration 3 hours. Field Days finish at 1:00 pm. Please consider booking a different program if your bus schedule requires you to leave much earlier than this time.)
