Park Shelter Rental and Regulations
There are seven (7) picnic shelters in Troy parks available for rental to Troy residents or businesses located in Troy. Reservations must be made in person at the Parks and Recreation office, 3179 Livernois, Monday-Friday from 8 am - 9 pm and Saturday 8 am to 1 pm.
- Early Block (8 am - 2 pm) $50
- Late Block (4 pm - 10 pm $50
- All Day (8 am - 10 pm) $80

*NOTE: Restrooms for new shelter at Civic Center are located in the Troy Community Center and are available during regular business hours, only.
Park shelters are open air with one 20-amp, two-plug electrical outlet, one large barbecue grill (charcoal is responsibility of permitted group), and water faucet. Picnic tables seat six. All parks with shelters have separate restroom facilities. Boulan Park shelters are identified by number.
Procedures for reserving park shelters and obtaining beer permits:
- Obtain park shelter permits at the Parks and Recreation office in the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois, Monday-Friday from 8 am - 9 pm and Saturday 8 am to 1 pm.
- A reservation fee of fifty dollars ($50) for an early or late block, or eighty ($80) for an all day rental must accompany each application..
- Proof of residency or employment must be furnished upon request.
- In order to have beer, the beer permit portion of the permit must be completed AND approved.
Rules Governing Park Shelter Usage:
- Reservation must be made in person at the Parks and Recreation office during regular office hours. No phone reservations are accepted.
- 75% of the group must be Troy residents, work in Troy for the company having the function, or be a bonafide member of the sponsoring Troy organization. A roster of those attending may be required.
- Park hours are 8 am to 10 pm.
- Reservations will be accepted from May 1st through the last Saturday in October.
- All vehicles must be confined to parking areas. (See park attendant for special delivery needs.)
- Permits must be retained at all times by user group and presented to park attendant upon request.
- This shelter permit is good only for date shown (There are no rain dates.)
- No refunds are granted for shelter permit fees.
- The group is responsible for leaving the shelter area clean and orderly.
- NO TENTS are allowed without written authorization.
- No rides, amusements, petting zoos, inflatable games, dunk tanks, generators, concessions, hot or cold air balloons are allowed.
- No amplified live music, or bands are permitted. Sound systems, speakers, DJ's allowed with written authorization, ONLY.
Rules Governing Beer Permits (Issued in conjunction with park shelters only):
- Beer must be dispensed from kegs or barrels only and served in paper cups. NO BOTTLES OR CANS.
- Identification and control must be proved to ensure a) exclusive use by members only; b) that minors are not served.
- All debris must be cleaned up and placed in suitable trash receptacles.
- NO LIQUOR, WINE OR WINE COOLERS! This permit is for BEER ONLY!
- Beer permits are issued in conjunction with park shelter permits ONLY.
- Permits expire at dark.
- Beer must be consumed at the reserved shelter ONLY. No beer is permitted at ball diamonds, soccer fields, children's play areas, parking lots, or other areas of the park.
