Class Descriptions
Your child will participate in many fun-filled learning activities in a warm, safe, loving atmosphere. Sessions begin in September and end in late May/early June. A summer program is also offered. To enter the 4-5 year old program, the child must be 4 years old by December 1, otherwise you must register in the 3-4 year old program. Classes meet 2-3 times per week for 2 1/2 hours. The teacher-student ratio is one eight.
ACTIVITIES
The program for 3-4 year olds will consist of organized play stressing sharing and social interaction. Children will participate in science, water play, finger play, rhythm band, outdoor play, singing, arts and crafts, drama, and fine and gross motor skill activities.
The program for 4-5 year olds will focus on pre-kindergarten readiness skills in an informal setting. This will include concepts such as same/different, left to right orientation, auditory and visual discrimination skills. Science and math activities will also be included. A snack will be provided.
Our learning environment
Rainbow Preschool takes place in a bright, colorful and loving environment and is taught by trained and experienced staff. In early 2003, we moved in to our new classrooms which feature: new furniture and toys, computer stations, approximately 2200 square feet of learning/growing space, fenced in play equipment adjacent to our rooms, unisex restrooms within the classroom, and separate entry for easy drop off and pick up of preschoolers.
The program is designed to enhance socialization, group interaction and to provide a learning experience through play. Classes provide for the emotional growth of the child as the child moves from a protected individualized home experience to a group experience without being accompanied by a parent.
STAFF
All of our instructors have college degrees with an emphasis or experience in Early Childhood Education and/or preschool instructional experience. They attend training and educational sessions throughout the school year. These teachers enjoy working with preschoolers and provide a loving and nurturing learning environment for the students. All of our staff has passed the State of Michigan background check as well as first aid/CPR and staff orientation.
How to Register
Registration begins in February each year. A non-refundable registration fee is required to hold your spot in a particular class. Tuition is paid in three installments. Register at the front desk of the Troy Community Center. Refer to Winter Troy Today for registration dates and current availability.
